FAQ – Questions & Answers

Some practical infos about Percé

Our property is perched on a magnificent promontory offering an exceptional panoramic view of the village of Percé. We are located approximately 2 km from the Percé wharf and the heart of the village. By car, the drive takes only about one minute.

Some visitors choose to walk to the village — a wonderful way to take in the beauty of the surrounding scenery! However, please note that the route includes a very steep incline, both uphill and downhill, and requires a good level of physical fitness. A narrow sidewalk is available on only one side of the road, and the proximity of traffic can sometimes make the walk feel less comfortable or less safe.

For your safety, we recommend avoiding this walk after dark. The route is also not recommended for families with young children.

Unfortunately, there are currently no taxi services (Uber or other ride-sharing services) available within the Town of Percé.

Yes. Several public and private parking areas are available in the heart of the village of Percé. They are located within a few minutes’ walk of the Percé wharf, activities, restaurants, and main services. Daily parking fees generally range from $10 to $13 per day, allowing you to explore the village on foot and enjoy your visit with peace of mind.

Yes. Percé offers several restaurants to suit a variety of tastes and preferences. For dinner, we recommend making a reservation in advance, as many restaurants operate by reservation, especially during busier periods.

A grocery store is located in the heart of Percé, Coop AMI, where you can find most basic food items.

For a wider selection of products, you will need to travel to larger grocery stores in Grande-Rivière (IGA), approximately 30 km away, or Chandler (Super C and IGA), approximately 41 km away.

The nearest fish market is located in Sainte-Thérèse-de-Gaspé, Lelièvre, Lelièvre et Lemoignan, approximately 20 km away.

Nature and activities

Several sea excursions are available in Percé. The most popular one is the excursion that takes you to discover the Bonaventure Island and Percé Rock National Park. Reservations are not accepted for this excursion; departures from the Percé wharf are frequent.

If you wish to get off on the island, we strongly recommend choosing a morning departure to allow enough time to explore. Keep in mind that the round trip to the northern gannet colony requires a minimum of 90 to 120 minutes of walking on a packed dirt trail.

Yes. The sunrises and sunsets visible from our site are among the most memorable experiences at Pic de l’Aurore.

The sunset unfolds in two stages: first, a pre-sunset glow gently illuminates the village while Percé Rock is bathed in beautiful golden hues. Then, a little later, looking toward the Barachois, you can admire the vibrant colours of the setting sun reflecting over the mountains of Forillon.

The sunrise is equally breathtaking. The first rays of daylight bring multiple shades of colour to the cliffs and sky, creating a peaceful and unforgettable spectacle.

To fully enjoy these moments, we recommend checking the sunrise and sunset times. For sunrise, plan to be in place a few minutes early so you don’t miss this beautiful natural display.

Absolutely! For everyone’s enjoyment, our site features two lookout points offering spectacular views of the surrounding landscape and the reefs below.

At low tide, these reefs are often visited by groups of seals, which are fascinating to observe in their natural habitat. It is also not uncommon to spot whales near the shoreline or see their spouts farther offshore.

Marine and coastal birds are also abundant and bring the landscape to life throughout the day, creating a truly memorable wildlife-watching experience.

Yes! The trails accessible directly from our property are free of charge and offer beautiful viewpoints of the region. The same applies to many of the trails located throughout the Percé area.

This network offers more than 18 km of developed trails leading to unique geological features (caves, crevices, enchanted forest areas…) as well as breathtaking viewpoints.

A Percé trail map is available in PDF format to help you plan your hikes.

Our property is located in the heart of nature, surrounded by forest, providing an ideal environment for wildlife observation. It is not uncommon to spot deer, groundhogs, raccoons, moose, porcupines, or squirrels.

We do, however, encourage you to remain cautious around wild animals. Please always keep your unit doors closed and avoid leaving food visible or accessible, as this may attract wildlife.

There are many beaches in the region offering wonderful opportunities for seaside walks. For swimming, locals particularly enjoy Coin-du-Banc and Cap-d’Espoir beaches.

The beaches in the village of Percé also offer beautiful views of the coastline and Percé Rock. Their pebble shoreline and steeper slope make them ideal places for walking and enjoying the scenery, but they are generally less popular for swimming.

Coin-du-Banc Beach is located only 7 km from Pic de l’Aurore. It offers a parking area and public washroom facilities.

Please note that beaches are not supervised, no lifeguard on duty. Caution is always recommended, as winds, waves, and currents can sometimes be stronger than they appear.
